Sam Hyde's important advice to creative people

Weariness. Nothing is so insufferable to man as to be completely at rest, without passions, without business, without diversion, without study. He then feels his nothingness, his forlornness, his insufficiency, his dependence, his weakness, his emptiness. There will immediately arise from the depth of his heart weariness, gloom, sadness, fretfulness, vexation, despair. PASCAL'S PENSÉES All righ...

"Nothing is as unbearable for a man as to be completely at rest, with no passions, no business, no diversion, no work. That’s when he feels his nothingness, his forlornness, his isolation, his dependence, his weakness, his emptiness. Boredom, gloom, sadness, fretfulness, resentment, despair will swell up from the depth of his soul." Pascal, Pensées The secret is to do you're meant to do. When y...

A thought-provoking excerpt from the discussion between Jonathan Blow and Luke Avery (@i_am_lambda) where John argues that, in fact, AI does not need to reach some hypothetical point of "consciousness" for it to be perceived as credible and human-like. Jonathan Blow - What went wrong in software development
Thank God for the Sam Hyde gene
First there was the 2070 shift then came the BAM. Like John the Baptist coming before Jesus
"Even chinese facial recognition software has a hard time picking u out"💀 some levity during a pep talk never hurt no one
I love how some people were chuckling to themselves, but then he said "We're just gonna kill 'em" and there was complete silence.
Sometimes great ideas are horrible ideas...
The troll king
“Look what they accomplished with no weapons. Just 11 guys that didn’t even speak English.”
What the hell did i just watch?! Inkept waiting for there to be a point 🤣
Absolute relevant insanity. More please
Big difference between TED and TED x
everything sam predicted is true
The balls on this man
18:08 When you can't choose between having a laughing fit or an existential crisis.
πώς μπορούμε να το βρούμε στα ελληνικά;
By far the funniest thing this homunculus ever did
6:56 Way ahead of his time, this man.
I kind of disagree about perfectionism and tunnel vision. "Obsession is the wellspring of genius and madness".
perfectionism doesn’t equal obsession dumbass the two can sometimes overlap but it doesn’t entail the other
Clown comedy?
15:56 he might be onto something...
Someone struggling to hold back laughter is one of life’s best simple pleasures.
I’ve been all around gralobe
I always come back to this. Truly glorious
How did he get away with this lol
I fucking love how he just wasted all their fucking time hahahah😊
Most of the major cities will be replaced with vast pleasure domes used exclusively by the Excelsiites who are the neo-upper class, while the displaced hordes of lower-class depth-grovelers will live underground in tiered cities endlessly toiling away for nuggets of neoplasmin. Video games are going to get more realistic.
I literally discovered my damaged inner child and was guided by my spirit animal to true enlightenment after this Sam Hyde talk.
Thanks Sam, this talk was an absolute game-changer! It's like you cracked open the coconut of the crux and served us all the refreshing, knowledge-filled nectar inside. Your insights are sharper than a diamond-encrusted scalpel, dissecting the issue with unparalleled precision. I haven't encountered writing this impactful since [hyperbolic reference, e.g. the cave paintings of Lascaux]. Seriously though, this has shifted my entire perspective. I'm ready to conquer the professional world (or at least dominate the next meeting) thanks to your brilliance. Thank you for sharing your genius with the world! #MindBlown #NewLevel Thinking
How are you going teach the africans javascript if they couldnt figure out an ipad
The people sat in that audience did not know they were witnessing a historical event as it was unfolding
“Video games are gonna get more realistic.” -Sam Hyde
10 dollar gas and constant race riots? Shit, Sam predicted the Biden Administration.
People think he's joking, but he's actually correct. We enslave & farm Everything. Free healthcare? Nope keep working and providing value to the economy you entitled slave... 😂
I can never make it all the way through this video 😂😂😂
This is the entire history of every presentation TedEx ever had condensed into one clip😂 Bravo 🙏
Look at the empty seats after the camera pulls back. They knew to get out with their lives
If Sam could be this sincere for longer than 10 minutes he'd be an incredible professor.
this was 30 minutes though
A professor in the broken education system? He's doing just fine.
"Its called the knock out game and eventually white people will be tired of playing it, that's all I'm saying" 😂
What he said it's actually valid. I'm now studying about the creative process and part of the steps is investigaste deeply and absorbe info ("think about it deeply") then just relax, have fun and even taking a nap ("then forget it") and after that, comes the ilumination ("an idea will jump up in your face"). Actually Don executes the fun and sleepy part too during the whole show JAJA. Now I understand that he wasn't lazy or idle drunk, he was just doing his job! Being purely creative.
It’s toasted
I’m gonna return to this video in 2070 to see how right Sam was.
Revisiting this to remind myself of what Sammy was but will never be again
Dude has killed so many kids.
i would say ideas are a currency not simply a simile
"Soda-stream will do for soda what 3D-printing did for assault rifles" Has to be the best joke of them all in this
Probably the greatest TED talk ever
Definitely, not probably.
Its called the knockout game and eventually white people are gonna be tired of playing it.
"By the year 2070, Isreal will be wiped off the map.. Gone!! Buh-bye!!! Again, not my choice.." 😬

@@ElonMuskrat-my8jy what are you talking about?
@@realwhatbrains Do you think that was a cringe joke he made? I'm assuming that based on the emoji.
@@ElonMuskrat-my8jy I thought it was topical. What are you the fucking joke police?
"Teaching african refugees how to program JavaScript" got me spitting on my monitor....
I can't believe sam hyde predicted the omegaverse.
The worst part is that if you overthink, over analyze, and overly generalize, his statements coalesce into an actual point about questioning the validity of de facto thought leaders. Which simply reinforces his point. Best talk ever
